THUNDER BAY PRINCE ARTHUR'S LANDING MARINA CITY OF THUNDER BAY "Superior By Nature"
The Sleeping Giant guards the entrance to Thunder Bay harbour where grain elevators tower as living monuments to the City's origins as a trade and transportation centre.
With more than 200 slips, Prince Arthur's Landing Marina is always ready to welcome visiting boaters. Laundry facilities, washrooms, showers, fuel and pumpout are conveniently located at the south end of the Marina near Pier 1. Customs service is available. A selection of food and gifts is offered in the CN Station, and everyone is welcome upstairs at the Yacht Club's Anchorage Lounge. Lifts, repairs and marine supplies are available at nearby marine centres.
There is plenty to do and see near the waterfront. Enjoy the walkways, observation
decks, picnic areas and playground in Marina Park. A pedestrian overpass offers
direct access to a wide selection of shopping and restaurants located within
easy walking distance in the downtown business district. A self-guided architectural
walking tour offers an opportunity to explore the City's heritage or you can
take a leisurely stroll along McVicar Creek. The heart of the City's large
Finnish community is just a few blocks away in the Bay Street neighbourhood
where Scandinavian specialties are featured.
As the regional centre of northwestern Ontario, Thunder Bay boasts a wide assortment of products and services in malls and retail districts located throughout the city.
Just up the street from the public dock at Kam River Heritage Park in the south end of the city, the Thunder Bay Museum maintains an extensive collection of artifacts that chronicle more than 10,000 years of history while a block away the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame celebrates the athletic achievements of regional champions.
You can follow the winding Kaministikwia River further west to the world's largest
reconstructed fur trading post. A cast of colourful characters brings history
to life at Fort William Historical Park.
If you wish to explore further afield, visitor information is available just across the road from the Marina at the Pagoda. Many of the City's attractions are easily accessible by public transit, including the Thunder Bay Art Gallery which features Canada's largest collection of Native art. Three municipal golf courses welcome golfers of all ages and abilities. Equipment rentals are available.
Take some time to explore and you'll discover that Thunder Bay is truly
"Superior By Nature."
